PM-KUSUM
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) aims to reduce the use of diesel in agriculture and increase farmers’ income. Under this scheme, farmers in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will receive a central government subsidy of 30% to 50% of the total cost for installing standalone solar pumps or solarizing existing grid-connected pumps. Additionally, they can set up grid-connected solar power plants up to 2MW on barren or fallow land and sell electricity to local DISCOMs at state-regulated tariffs. The scheme is implemented by designated state government departments.
